Okay so first thing first, I have never used Asian BB creams so i have absolutely NO idea how and what to compare them with the American BB creams. I have read that there is a huge difference in claims and what not ,but i am reviewing on what i have tried so far.
I have three US versions of BB cream ,Loreal, Maybelline Dream fresh BB cream , and Garnier. In this post , I’ll do a side by side swatches of all of them because I think it would be helpful for those who are curious about texture and shades .The loreal youth code BB cream claims to illuminate , which is i think is somewhat true because it definatley makes your face dewy . The texture is thick and creamy and I personally like applying it with my fingers . Doing so gives light coverage ,So with lOreal youth code bb cream It doesn't look like I'm wearing makeup. I find that this product does a pretty good job at evening out my skin tone overall , my skin has improved a lot in past couple of month since I started using clarisonic Mia., The finish is natural, smoother ,luminous and dewy ( a tad bit shiny if you got oily skin ) . Its very hydrating ( another reason to avoid if you have oily skin ) . But I have combination skin oily T zone and dry cheek area ,I personally love the moisture and how it brightens up my face ,taking away the dullness .Its doesn't enhance the dry patches on my skin and in my opinion looks very natural. But i do dust a powder during day time to avoid looking oily as i have combination skin. I believe shade wise L'oreal Youth Code BB Cream Illuminator SPF 15 is more suitable for me. The Maybelline is way to dark but since it was the sheerest of all three,i still wear it. But I would say LOreal Youth Code BB Cream is my favorite among all three of BB creams i own.
BB creams usually came in "one" shade when they were introduced but now companies are coming out with different shades to suit everyone. I have three US Drugstores BB creams with me today to swatch .
For Reference i am Mac NC 35 and swatch below was taken outdoor on back of my hand
( L-R ) Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream
in medium to deep , L'Oreal Youth Code BB Cream in medium and Maybelline Dream Fresh BB cream in medium-deep
From swatches you can see that maybelline one is darkest and Garnier is lightest, L'Oreal Youth Code BB Cream has a bit of more yellow to it. From swatches you can see Maybelline Dream Fresh BB cream look the sheerest of all.

I love comparison posts. I never tried BB creams and I wanna start with an Asian one.
ReplyDeleteI have tried a Korean BB cream that totally changed my perception, it really suits my combination skin and never gets oily. This one too sounds really good. Love the packaging! xx
ReplyDeleteI have heard that that L'Oreal BB Cream gives least of coverage among all these three. But I haven't tried myself. I am using Astor BB Cream at the moment and I find it really close to how an actual BB Cream could be than a formula imitating tinted moisturiser, but it is also a li'l thick. x
