Surprising Shanghai Sights For Solo Vacationers

Traveling on your own can be so freeing. You don’t have to worry about whether the other person wants to see the things you want to see. It also means you are free to travel at times and dates to suit you. And what better time to take in a short vacation in Shanghai than when you are there for business or a convention!

The area of Pudong is across the river from the hustle and bustle of futuristic Shanghai. This is where a lot of businesses hold conferences and events in anything from marketing to personal growth. You might be visiting this district for a business meeting yourself. There are several Shanghai Pudong hotel choices you might be interested in. As you are situated really close to Shanghai, you can take this opportunity for a short vacation!

Shanghai, also known as Hu, is one of China’s most popular cities for a vacation. It’s on the estuary of Yangtze River, so you know that you’re close to the river if you fancy a night river cruise tour.  The Bund is a waterfront promenade that has become very popular with tourists. It looks magnificent with so many colonial buildings. There is plenty to do here, and there are several places to eat. Of course, the shopping isn’t bad either!

From this attractive position, you can look back at the Pudong district. It’s from this vantage point that you can really appreciate how futuristic the buildings and the skyline really looks. Did you know that the Shanghai Tower is over half a kilometer tall? You can also see the pink spheres of the TV tower from here.

For a more traditional view, head to the Yu gardens in central Shanghai. You can see a beautiful pavilion and well-tended gardens. The ponds are particularly delightful. Did you know there is a nature reserve nearby? Shanghai is such a different place to just a few decades ago. It is now one of the most exciting yet beautiful places. There is even a Disney Resort here!

Shanghai is a surprising place that retains plenty of its traditional charm. It is beautifully nestled in among some of the most futuristic and globally enchanting sights. While it can be fun to share these things with a friend or partner, it also means that you can enjoy everything as a solo traveler too. If you’re not comfortable dining alone, there are plenty of street vendors, or you can choose to take room service at your hotel.

Perhaps some of the most beautiful sights to see are the amazing temples in and around the city. Their iconic roof shapes still fascinate the tourists when they come to visit. Longhua Temple might be the most popular one. It’s no wonder the tourists like to come here. This building is architecturally stunning and is carefully maintained to look as fresh as the day it was built.

If you are visiting Shanghai for any reason, do take a few days to get to know this city a little better. And doing it on your own can be just as much fun!
