Sleek Saturday Series – with Curacao I-Divine

I was so excited when Liloo  asked me if i would be interested it doing a post on Sleek Saturday . Could i be more excited? Sleek makeup is one of my favorite brand and i feature them quite often.

I was looking at my sleek makeup i divine palettes and i wanted to do a look with Oh so Special one but its a gloomy , rainy day so i wanted to do something bright, also its Pakistan's independence day so i wanted the look to be green . I chose the Curacao I-Divine from Caribbean collection.

Eyeshadows:  I used Martini all over lid and bro bone. Green iguana on the crease and the outer V . Then i used espresso martini to contour, also used it on the lower lashline.

I didnt photograph as well as i wanted it to be, I miss my nikon camera for face/eye photos. Cant wait for dad to come back so i can post them more regularly. Next week you will see something much more better.

OPI DS Radiance - NOTD

DS Radiance was Part of the OPI Designer Series Nail Collection.

Radiance is a Metallic silver color ,a beautiful Luxuriously rich, brilliant silver.It has a smooth formula , needed only one coat and is easy to remove.

It looks like a perfect silver foil. I only needed one coat of this polish to get the full opacity. It dries super fast which i love.

What's cooking - Marble cake

If you follow me on twitter or facebook , you would know i had a major cooking day today. We invited some relatives over for iftar/ dinner and i cooked 3 dishes, including 2 for main course. I got this recipe from internet and it turned out really good. I thought of sharing it with all of lovely ladies here who enjoy baking

Recipe for Marble cake

INGREDIENTS

• 1.1/2 cup plain flour
• 1tb baking powder
• 3/4 cup unsalted butter .softened
• 3/4 cup sugar
• 3 eggs beaten
• 2tb cocoa powder unsweetened
• 2tb milk

1. Preheat oven to 325 F/160 C.Grease 20 cm pan with some oil or butter 
2. Shift the flour and Baking powder in large bowl and add the butter,sugar,eggs,
3. Beat well untill the mixture is smooth approx 6-7 min 
4. Now transfer half the batter to separate bowl 
5. Combine the coco and milk and stir in one bowl of mixture..Mix well this is coco batter

The most important part is assembling the cake batter in a baking pan. This is what you do. 2 heaped tablespoons of simple batter (you can also use a ladle that would hold 2 tablespoons) into the middle of the baking pan. Then scoop 2 tablespoons of cocoa batter and pour it in the center on top of the plain batter. IMPORTANT! Do not stop and wait until the previous batter spreads - KEEP GOING! Do not spread the batter or tilt the pan to distribute the mixture. It will spread by itself and fill the pan gradually. Continue alternating the batters until you finish them. 
This is how it looks after you are done

• Bake in the oven for about 40 minutes. Do not open the oven door at least the first 20 minutes or the cake will shrink and will not rise. To check if the cake is ready, insert a toothpick into the center. It should come out clean when ready.take out from oven let cool in pan for 10 min . Turn the cake out and finish cooling on a wire rack. You can sprinkle the top of the cake with some powdered (confectioner’s) sugar or leave it plain.

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil - Review, Photos & Swatches

If you read my recent mini-NYX haul and a beauty swap , you would know that i have only three nyx jumbo pencils.

• Yogurt: is a frosted copper brown with a gilded champagne sheen.
• Milk : is a matte white
• Blackbean : is a matte black

Basically you can wear nyx jumbo eye pencils as an eyeshadow base and layer eyeshadow on top to intensifies eye shadow. When used as a base, it makes an eyeshadow stand out more.Since they are really creamy, they glide smoothly and effortlessly onto eyes without tugging. They are really pigmented so you don’t even need to go over the same area twice , They are easily buildable to an opaque finish. You get good color payoff at the first application. One or  by max two swipes do the job.

Texture wise i find them too thick to blending with a brush so i use my fingers. The fingers  warms up so application is smooth and even. I blend that out into a thin layer all over.

They tend to crease , so i highly highly recommend wearing an eye primer underneath. The size are perfect to travel with but pain to sharpen. Get a good sharpener. I have one which sharpens regular and jumbo pencils.

I like that they have so many shades available. I cant wait to pick pure gold & iced mocha.

I am pretty happy with the shades i have . I picked up yogurt because i read temptali's post that  NYX Yogurt seems to be closest to Urban Decay Sin shadow pencil. It works as excellent highlighter under the browbone.

Nyx jumbo pencil in Milk  is highly pigmented matte white. This makes a great base and highlighter.

The Nyx jumbo pencil in blackbean is a deep super black. Its perfect for smokey eye.

It will crease, it will smudge so always use a good primer underneath But they do excellent job of making colorful eyeshadows to pop. They are creamy , smooth and pigment so i would say give them a try . We Either Love Them or Hate Them .

Hi I am Sarah and i am a Kajal-holic. There I Said It . If you ask me that What one makeup products i will bring on vacation/ island/desert ?? My reply is always Kajal . I have tried few other brands too like Shehnaz hussain but i dont have it anymore. My mom loved home made kajal , which she used more frequently.I really want to try the Himalaya kajal , i looked for it in Lahore but it wasn't available. I read good reviews on oriflame kajal too. I will certainly pick these two in future.

French & Fabulous - French Stamp Template DIY Kit

I recently started using the Konad Stamping Nail Art and it is kind of fun if you have steady hand unlike me. If you are just starting the konad , just make sure you have the right kind of nail polish for stamping and also a good quality regular polish underneath.  choose a polish which have a thick, opaque formula.

• 1pcs scraper
• 1pcs stamp
• 2 pcs template M48 & M49

 

Things you will need 

1. Nail polish remover
2. Base coat
3. Colored nail polish
4. Top coat
5. Konad Stamper
6. Konad Image Plate I used the M48 .
7. Cotton swabs
8. Cotton ball (soaked with nail polish remover)
9. Towel / paper towel (to wipe off )
10. Konad Scraper
11. Paper (to protect working surface) 
12. Bubble wrap to protect table from getting stains

 

Tip: You make sure you have all things you will need with you .  

This is why we need paper & bubble wrap, I have tendency of getting everything messy.

 

I have mentioned this so many times that i am very clumsy when it comes to nail polish application. But with time it has approved alot. I tried Konad for first time and as you can see its not perfect but to be honest i am quite happy , because i wasnt even expecting it to turn this better.  Make sure that you know where you are stamping , konad art can get messy on nails so dont try to be perfect at your first time. Keep practicing. 

One thing which i learnt is that when you are holding the Konad Stamper, you need to really firmly press down on the design so it picks up the entire design, If not, then you can repeat the process again. Also make sure that you clean the plate after each time you use it , i simply use the cotton ball , soaked in nail polish remover.

Ofcourse i didnt stamp correctly as i missed some spots but you can always re-do them

I used some stones to prettify the design .

 Nail polishes i used for the above nail art :

• 1 coat of Sally Hensan Base Coat
• 3 coats of Luscious Nail Lacquer Purple Rain
• 1 coat of Golden Rose Quick Dry Top Coat
• 1 coat of Golden rose black Nail Polish  for stamped images
•  Final coat of Golden Rose Quick Dry Top Coat
